Katla Geopark publishes an article in Geoconservation Research
Katla geopark recently published its first peer-reviewed article entitled "Volcanic features within Katla UNESCO Global Geopark". The article discusses the geosites of the Geopark that are considered to be of international scientific interest, Eyjafjallajökull volcano, Katla volcano, Lakagígar crater row, Eldgjá fissure and its rootless cone fields, and the hyaloclastite ridges of Kattarhryggir, Grænifjallgarður and Fögrufjöll, along with a brief discussion of geotourism and protection within Katla Geopark. The theme of this issue of the magazine is "Geoparks in volcanic areas", therefore, the Geopark could not pass up this great opportunity to write an article for the magazine. The article appears in the journal Geoconservation Research, which is published online, and the article, along with other articles in the journal, can be found here: https://gcr.isfahan.iau.ir/issue_1138542_1138543.html
