Víkurfjara beach project receives Educational award
The Víkurfjara beach project, a joint research project between Víkurskóli school and Katla Geopark, in collaboration with Katla Centre, received the South Iceland Education Award for 2023. The award was presented by the President of Iceland, Mr. Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, during the annual meeting of the Science and Research Fund of South Iceland that the University Centre of South Iceland presides over.
Katla Geopark would hereby like to thank for this honor, along with thanking the Association of Municipalities in South Iceland - SASS for the award, the people who nominated the project for the award, The Icelandic innovation fund for schools for supporting the project, our partners in the project which are Víkurskóli and Katla Centre, and last but not least, the students at Víkurskóli for their participation and enthusiasm during the project.
