Southcoast Adventure was founded by Þorgerður Guðmundsdóttir and Ársæll Hauksson in the year 2009. At the start they only had one SUV for tours, but today the company has about 32 vehicles in all shapes and sizes, snowmobiles, and buggies. Among the things we offer are daily trips to Þórsmörk, snowmobile tours onto a glacier, two trips per day to an ice cave, transportation of luggage between locations for hikers, hiking tours and buggy trips, along with several specialized tours. The company has recently opened a new base camp, Brú Base, by the Markarfljót River on the way to Þórsmörk and the plan is to further develop this as visitor center with information and local products from Katla Geopark.
